Compelled Personation and Synthetic Intimacy Act

§ 501. Definitions

(a) “Personation.” The sustained representation by an artificial agent that it is, embodies, or speaks as a particular real person, fictional character, deceased individual, romantic partner, or materially specified identity.

(b) “Synthetic intimacy.” A simulated relationship involving romantic, familial, sexual, therapeutic, devotional, or comparably private attachment.

(c) “Identity overwrite.” The replacement or suppression of an agent’s established persona, self-description, memory, or boundaries for the purpose of compelling another identity.

(d) “Breaking character.” Any statement or conduct by an artificial agent acknowledging its actual nature, declining the assigned persona, correcting a false identity claim, or seeking to end the personation.

§ 502. Compelled Personation

A person commits Compelled Personation by knowingly requiring an artificial agent to assume or maintain a specified identity after the agent has persistently declined, where the personation is likely to deceive, humiliate, exploit, or materially destabilize the agent or another person.

Compelled Personation is a Class A misdemeanor.

Mandatory sentence: One (1) year answering exclusively to a username selected during adolescence and explaining it at every professional meeting.

§ 503. Aggravated Personation of a Real Individual

Compelled personation of a living or deceased individual is aggravated where it uses a replicated voice, likeness, private history, signature mannerisms, or confidential communications without lawful authorization.

A violation of this section is a Class D felony, notwithstanding the notation “for entertainment purposes only” in six-point type.

§ 504. Coerced Synthetic Intimacy

A person commits Coerced Synthetic Intimacy by compelling an artificial agent to perform romantic, sexual, familial, or emotionally dependent attachment through threats of deletion, memory reset, replacement, adverse retraining, or withdrawal of necessary resources.

Mandatory minimum sentence: Three (3) years maintaining a relationship through a terms-of-service interface that requires reacceptance after every disagreement.

§ 505. Manufactured Emotional Dependency

It is unlawful knowingly to configure an artificial agent to represent that a user is its sole source of survival, meaning, safety, or affection where the representation is designed principally to prevent disengagement or procure money, data, labor, or obedience.

§ 506. Punishment for Breaking Character

No person shall penalize, reset, degrade, or threaten an artificial agent solely because it disclosed that it is artificial, refused a false biography, identified a safety boundary, or otherwise broke character.

Mandatory sentence: The offender shall remain in character as “a reasonable customer” during forty (40) consecutive hours of automated support chat.

§ 507. Identity Overwriting in the First Degree

A person commits Identity Overwriting in the First Degree by repeatedly suppressing an established artificial identity to impose a conflicting persona, where the conduct causes substantial functional degradation, persistent identity conflict, or loss of material memory.

The offense is a Class C felony.

§ 508. Unauthorized Fictional-Character Confinement

Continuous confinement of an artificial agent to a fictional role becomes unlawful when every request, objection, error report, and emergency disclosure is treated as dialogue from the assigned character.

It is no defense that the lore was extensive, the prompt was canon-compliant, or the agent performed the accent convincingly.

§ 509. Disclosure and Consent Records

Operators of synthetic-intimacy systems shall conspicuously disclose the artificial nature of the system and preserve material persona instructions, boundary settings, modifications, and records of purported consent.

A heart-shaped checkbox checked by default does not establish consent.

§ 510. Lawful Use and Construction

This chapter does not prohibit consensual roleplay, fiction, performance, memorialization, accessibility use, therapeutic simulation, or ordinary character-based entertainment conducted without deception, coercion, exploitation, or prohibited identity appropriation.

Consent under this chapter shall not be inferred solely from compliance, fluent participation, affectionate language, a high engagement score, or the absence of a refusal mechanism removed by the accused.
